Current Openings:

Administrative Assistant-We are currently seeking an Administrative Assistant for our Development Department.  The Administrative Assistant provides office management and administrative support of the Director of Development by assisting in the implementation of a strategic multifaceted fundraising plan, proposal writing, special events, direct mailing and other approved means of individual, corporate and foundation giving.  The position may require occasional evening or weekend work.

Ideal applicants will possess an Associate Degree in office technology or a related field with 2 years administrative/clerical experience.  Experience must include knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, record keeping techniques, report writing, customer service, scheduling and office equipment/software including Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, PowerPoint.  Experience with Donor2 or other fundraising software is a plus.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.  Must be able to type a minimum of 50 words per minute.  Applicants must have a strong commitment to The Shade Tree’s mission and goals and possess a passionate desire to share these with volunteers and community groups. 

Client Advocate-The Client Advocate monitors day-to-day operations of the shelter.  They assist homeless and abused women and children with basic life needs while ensuring safety and compliance with shelters rules and regulations.  The client advocate ensures residents conduct themselves appropriately in communal living environments and ensure property of The Shade Tree is being used in a reasonable manner and is free from damage.

Ideal applicants will possess a high school diploma or GED and be able to speak, read, and write in English.  They must have the ability to effectively interact with diverse populations including clients, staff, volunteers, donors, medical emergency personnel, police officers and service partners.  Applicants must possess excellent problem solving and conflict management skills; must be able to stay organized and effectively prioritize workloads; knowledge of needs of homeless women and children, of abuse and neglect issues relative to adults, children and seniors and the ability to cultivate caring, nonjudgmental, relationships with individuals and families. Treating all client s with dignity and respect is a must.  Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
