"To provide safe shelter to homeless and abused women and children in crisis and to offer life-changing services promoting stability, dignity, and self-reliance."
The Shade Tree Vision...
Self-reliance for every woman and child.
At The Shade Tree, we believe...
That no one should ever have to endure a state of homelessness, existing in fear for personal safety and without the means to meet even the most basic of human needs - food and shelter.
That every human being, regardless of social status, has the right to be treated with dignity and respect.
That all homeless children are victims because they lack choice and mobility.
That homelessness is a community problem that impacts everyone. That everyone can be a part of the solution.
If you are in immediate danger, call 911 now. The Shade Tree proudly welcomes women veterans and their children who are in need of help. If you need a safe place, we are open 24 hours.
Winter Shelter Now Open
The Shade Tree has officially opened their 2013 Winter Shelter Program, which will remain open now until March 31, 2014. The Winter Shelter Program provides beds for 25 women and children who are living on the streets a safe place to sleep through the cold winter months from 6pm-8am each day. Residents will receive two hot meals (breakfast & dinner), shower and laundry facilities, and access to a range of services through various community partners.
Horses 4 Heroes Teams with The Shade Tree to Help Survivors of Abuse
"This program was my salvation. I was going through a lot. The horse's gave me a peace of mind....I don't have a daughter with me right now and Horses 4 Heroes lifted my spirits."
"Horses 4 Heroes is one of the most gratifying experiences I have had in the past months. It helps me deal with stress and relaxes me. I love working with the horses. Thank you."
-Current Tennants of The Shade Tree
Every week, Horses 4 Heroes opens their facility to our families with the goal of using animal therapy to help our women and children heal from the pain suffered through abuse and violence. Their partership is invaluable as it offers another avenue to help rebuild their lives after crisis.
