Job Title:             Staff Bookkeeper

Program:             Finance

Reports To:         Director of Finance

FLSA Status:       Non-Exempt

Job Summary:

Works under the Direction of Finance Director.  Responsible for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll and other related tasks as may be assigned.

Principle Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Check, verify and process invoices
  • Prepare payments for signatures
  • Sort, code and enter accounts payable data
  • Analyze discrepancies and unpaid invoices
  • Maintain vendor files
  • Prepare and submit customer invoices
  • Prepare, validate and reconcile payroll for submission
  • Execute eTime attendance and hours processing for interface with payroll
  • Understand and insure proper taxation of employers paid benefits

Other/General Support Functions:

  • Update, verify and maintain accounting journals and ledgers and financial records
  • Assist in month end reporting procedures
  • Find and use accounting data to resolve accounting problems and discrepancies
  • Assist with employee expense reports
  • Perform filing and general administrative tasks
  • Liaise with other departments/customers/vendors 

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 3 years in bookkeeping
  • Knowledge of MS Office
  • Proficiency in Quick Books, job costing, and classifying
  • Knowledge of general accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and procedures
  • Experienced in full cycle accounts receivable and accounts payable procedures
  • Working knowledge of double entry accounting
  • Ability to multi-task and to meet deadlines
