Last fiscal 2006-2007 year the kind and caring people in our community donated 3565 volunteer hours in support of The Shade Tree Shelter! This equates to a financial contribution of $76,019! In addition to the immediate contribution our volunteers make, The Shade Tree is often awarded grants based, in part, on the number of volunteer hours we record each year.

Volunteers helped us with special events such as monthly birthday parties for the children, back-to-school carnival, fall festival and fund raisers such as golf tournaments, fashion shows and pet fairs. Volunteers also prepared and served meals, tutored the children, did art, crafts, and music with the children, sorted donated items, drove clients to appointments, and helped with cleaning, painting and yard work We also need volunteers that can help with GED, banking, math and reading classes.

Some of our volunteers come every week and some come only as their schedules allow. Some of our volunteers come with groups of people; others come alone. Some people prefer to work here at the shelter; other prefer to work at off-site events. Whatever your circumstance; if you would like to help we would be most appreciative.
